Kim Collins
Cornfields and farmers and AM radio…all part of my big introduction into radio. I grew up in Sioux Falls, SD (a thriving metropolis now) and went to radio school at Brown Institute in Minneapolis. The legendary classic rocker 92KQRS, which is still rockin’ the Twin Cities, turned me on to classic rock. I’m pretty sure I’ve worked every format in every small town in South Dakota, Iowa and Kansas. And then…Boston! I’ve been here for 15 years and was thrilled to join ZLX in May 2008.
5 CD’s that I couldn’t live without on a desert island:
1. Lynyrd Skynyrd “Gold & Platinum”
2. AC/DC “Back in Black”
3. Led Zeppelin “Houses of the Holy”
4. Bad Co. “10 of 6”
5. Jethro Tull “36 All Time Greatest Hits”
What would you be doing if you weren’t in radio?
I’d hit the lottery, for sure, and being laying on a beach in Mexico.
Best concert ever?
From what I remember, it was a Skynyrd show several years ago at the then “Harbor Lights”.
Best radio advice?
Be a really nice intern.
What do you do outside WZLX?
Taxi 3 kids around…ages 2, 13 and 16. Oh, happy day when the 16 year old can take over the chauffeuring duties!
