Van Morrison has no need to do any more to prove his talent or legacy – those distinctions were established a long time ago. Yet, the Belfast Cowboy has no interest in resting on his laurels and continues to release album after album of groundbreaking new material. With such an amazing body of work already released through five decades with so many different artistic phases represented, this album takes a break from the rush of recent Morrison releases to take a generous look back over his entire career. This new 3-CD set runs the gamut of more than 40 years – from “Gloria” in 1964 with his Northern Irish band Them to selections from ‘05’s album “Magic Time.” It’s an impressive collection – uniting a handful of record labels and presenting hits like “And it Stoned Me,” “Moondance,” “Domino” and “Here Comes the Night.” The Sunday Morning Blues favorite “Precious Time” from 1999 is also included. This package features a whopping 51 slices of Van the Man and proves that its title is not overblown – Van Morrison is still on top!
