Marcia Ball "Peace, Love and BBQ"

Marcia Ball “Peace, Love and BBQ”

Marica Ball has been delighting audiences for years with her fantastic gutsy voice and barrelhouse piano blues style. Signed to Chicago powerhouse blues label Alligator, Marcia’s brand new album is perfect for our times (or any time, really). It’s called “Peace, Love and BBQ,” because when we’re busy getting and remaining friendly with each other, we’re bound to work up an appetite. As the summer blues festival season looms, the smell of BBQ will be wafting across a thousand outdoor concerts in the months to come as the smoke just adds to the good vibes. Now, I know some of you know I’m a vegetarian, but I can appreciate those grilled veggies and to be honest – I cheat with grilled salmon every once in awhile. All this talk about food made me lose my focus – back to Marcia Ball! She’s a Texas native who’s fond of channeling nearby New Orleans music – emmulating such piano greats as Fats Domino and Professor Longhair. You really can’t go wrong with any Marcia Ball release – perhaps the recent “Marcia Ball Live” is a nice introduction to her past catalogue, but this new one is a treat. Peace and love never tasted…I mean, sounded, so good!
